About the Role
As an early member of our client's team, you will be responsible for lab-scale electrolyzer technology development. They are looking for a flexible, hands-on R&D engineer with experience in electrochemistry and troubleshooting and developing experimental test stations. They are an early stage startup, so independence, the ability to critically prioritize, and being proactive and team oriented are key attributes.
Key Responsibilities
• Diligently practice and improve on safety protocols and procedures.
• Independently design, prioritize, and execute electrochemical experiments.
• Analyze and communicate data to both technical and nontechnical team members.
• Immersion in the design, assembly, and operation of both electrochemical and non-electrochemical test equipment, including electrolyzer hardware.
• Assist in technical facility operations and maintenance along the entire process chain.
• Develop IP centered on producing the lowest-cost green hydrogen.
What they're looking for
• Experience working in a team in hazardous chemical and electrical environments
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science or a related engineering field
• 1-2 years of relevant electrochemical work experience, preferably in electrolyzers, fuel cells, or similar devices.
• Familiarity with manipulating fluid handling systems, process piping, and associated control systems • Familiarity with common data analysis methods, statistical techniques, and visualization using e.g. Excel, Python, MATLAB, R
• Must be able to frequently lift and manipulate objects up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to crouch, kneel, bend, and climb ladders regularly
Extra-credit
• 3-4 years of relevant electrochemical work experience, and/or relevant advanced degree
• Previous experience at a startup or other fast-paced R&D environment
• Flexibility and willingness to learn + adapt to emergent engineering needs
• Demonstrated examples of ability to quickly and independently troubleshoot both electrochemical and non-electrochemical problems
• Experience with operating electrolyzer or fuel cell stacks
• Familiarity with CAD, shop tools, and common power tools and hardware
