The Team

Deloitte Tax LLP, National Tax Controversy Services Group (NTCS)provides responsive, innovative, and practical resolution of matters before theInternal Revenue Service (IRS). The NTCS team utilizes their extensive rangeof skills, knowledge, and experience with IRS to assist clients throughconflicts by supplementing and assisting IRS departments, legal counsel, andother tax practitioners. NTCS tax professionals help clients manage all oftheir global and domestic interactions with the IRS. Professionals arecomprised of CPAs, Enrolled Agents, and paraprofessionals who work with clientsto resolve matters such as IRS processing and customer service inquiries,procedural issues, correspondence audits, and penalty appeals. These taxprofessionals come from various backgrounds including industry, private practice,and the IRS.

We believe that experience is invaluable in the above situations.Our IRS Campus/Account Analysis specialists all have former IRS experience.Each member of the group has a vast amount of experience in dealing with IRStax controversy. Each member has skills and knowledge to help clients work withIRS personnel on processing, procedural, and IRS account-related matters.

We understand how IRS systems work, the documents and facts neededto address specific tax issues, methods to present those issues, and ways toresolve each tax problem. These qualities are essential for addressing the manytypes of tax and tax account situations companies encounter today.

Our Account Analysis professionals can advise in such areas as:Processing and monitoring Forms 1040, 1120, and 1041 refunds and taxassessments. Determine qualifications for abatement of interest and penaltiesand understand when special handling and monitoring of unique IRS accountactions is required. These actions include but are not limited to; managementof accounts for payment application issues, misapplication of extensionrequests, amended returns, carryback refundapplications, Form 911, Requestfor Taxpayer Advocate Service Assistance , and all Entity related matters.On a limited basis, professionals may assist with IRS audit management.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Use your IRSexpertise to provide many tax controversy services to our clients.
  • Assist clientand Deloitte engagement teams with recurring IRS account-related matters.
  • Dailyinteraction with IRS Practitioner Priority Service and Taxpayer Advocate.
  • Prepare writtencorrespondence to IRS and Deloitte engagement teams regarding accountresolution.
  • Interact withclients and Deloitte engagement teams via e-mail and telephone regardingIRS inquiries and resolution of IRS matters.
  • Coordinateservices with Deloitte offices globally.
  • Provide supportfor the individual and business tax return compliance process.
  • Use internaltechnology to update/maintain client records and prepare reports.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelorsdegree in Accounting, Finance, or other business-related field
  • Ability toperform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires USTax professionals to co-locate in person 2-3 days per week
  • Minimum 5 years of IRSService Center/Campus experience in Accounts Management or ComplianceFunctions
  • Extensive working knowledgeof the IRS Integrated Data Retrieval System (IDRS)
  • Ability to research andunderstand the IRS methods of account resolution, desk guides, and theInternal Revenue Manual (IRM)
  • Ability to researcheffectively, document case files, maintain inventory management, and haveexcellent organizational skills
  • Ability totravel 25%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients andindustries/sectors you serve.
  • One of the followingaccreditations obtained, in process, or willing able to obtain:
    • Licensed CPA in state ofpractice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA
    • If not CPA eligible:
      • LicensedAttorney
      • EnrolledAgent
      • ProjectManagement Professional (PMP)
      • CertifiedFinancial Advisor (CFA)
      • ProfessionalEngineer

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range offactors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but notlimited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications;and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate hasnot been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated withthe location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is nottypical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for theirrole and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances ofeach case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is$56,880 to$85,320.
