Job Description: Outside Sales Representative – Chesapeake Lighting / Construction Supply

Position Title: Outside Sales Representative
Reports To: Stock & Supply Manager
Location: Columbia, MD
Type: Full-Time, Commission-Based

 

Job Summary: As an Outside Sales Representative for Chesapeake Construction Supply, you will be responsible for driving sales, cultivating relationships, and growing revenue within your designated territory. You will act as a liaison between our agency and prospective clients, promoting the agency’s products and services with professionalism and integrity.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Sales & Business Development:

    • Call on existing customer base within the company’s geographic territory

    • Generate new business opportunities by prospecting and networking with potential clients.

    • Develop and maintain a pipeline of new business while achieving sales goals and targets.

    • Create and deliver persuasive sales presentations to potential clients.

  2. Client Relationship Management:

    • Cultivate long-term relationships with both new and existing clients by providing exceptional customer service and regular follow-up.

    • Act as the main point of contact between clients and the agency, ensuring client satisfaction and retention.

    • Troubleshoot and resolve customer issues, ensuring that clients receive timely and accurate service.

  3. Market Research:

    • Stay current with industry trends, competitor activities, and client needs to identify new sales opportunities.

    • Provide feedback on market conditions, sales forecasts, and competitor offerings to the sales management team.

  4. Collaboration & Reporting:

    • Collaborate with the internal team to ensure alignment between client needs and agency offerings.

    • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and outcomes using TTS software.

  5. Sales Strategies & Execution:

    • Develop customized sales strategies to reach target markets and meet sales objectives.

    • Represent the agency at trade shows, conferences, and other industry events to increase brand awareness and expand your network.

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3+ years in outside sales, preferably within a rep agency or similar industry.

  • Skills:

    • Strong sales negotiation and closing skills.

    • Ability to build rapport and trust with clients.

    • Self-motivated with a results-driven attitude.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (preferred but not required).

  • Travel: Willingness to travel within the assigned territory, including client visits, trade shows, and events.
