Amentum is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented Nuclear Safety Engineer 4 to support projects in the Albuquerque, NM office. The Engineer will provide technical support for U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) facilities and projects in safety-based development to ensure safe operations. The Engineer must have demonstrated experience in preparing documents to support the development of or changes to Documented Safety Analysis (DSA) and Technical Safety Requirement (TSR) documents, performing Hazard Analysis (HA) to support Safety Basis development, and supporting Operations in the implementation of Safety Basis changes. Essential Responsibilities include developing and maintaining safety basis documents and safety basis program procedures; performing hazard analyses of nuclear operations, defining functional specifications, and recommending credited controls to mitigate unacceptable hazards; developing portions or sections of analyses or nuclear safety reviews; assisting in accident analysis and engineering data generation; preparing reports and correspondence; identifying and describing interrelationships of safety basis requirements to designs and operations; producing technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications; interfacing with customers in nuclear safety reviews and technical working group meetings; verifying compliance with engineering documentation standards and nuclear safety procedures; mentoring Junior Nuclear Safety Analysts; ensuring product and service quality meets customer requirements; and performing other related duties. Qualifications include a BS/BA in engineering or equivalent technical discipline with 8+ years of relevant experience or MS/MA with 5+ years of experience. Other requirements include good communication and analytical skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office, capability to obtain a DOE site security badge, ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance, and US Citizenship (no dual citizenship). Preferred experience includes familiarity with DOE Nuclear Safety Analysis requirements (DOE-STD-3009), supporting DSA and TSR updates and approvals, leading reviews, reviewing procedures and facility modifications, advising management on nuclear safety issues, collaborating with various personnel and DOE oversight, supporting requirements management and training, tracking project status, and conducting hazard identification and accident analyses.
