DoubleTree by Hilton Battle Creek is seeking a dynamic, creative, and community-driven Marketing & Community Engagement Manager to join our leadership team. Position Summary
The Marketing & Community Engagement Manager functions as the strategic storyteller, brand steward, and primary visibility architect for DoubleTree by Hilton Battle Creek. This role operates at the intersection of brand strategy, digital marketing, and community leadership, with a direct mandate to enhance the property's public image, drive engagement, and foster strong local partnerships. The individual will be responsible for ideating, developing, and executing multi-platform marketing initiatives that not only adhere to Hilton's global brand standards but also distinguish the Battle Creek location as a premier hotel, event venue, and community hub in the region.
The ideal candidate is equal parts creative visionary, project manager, and hospitality ambassador—someone capable of marrying metrics-driven marketing strategies with the authenticity of local engagement. This role involves comprehensive oversight of all media and communications efforts related to the hotel’s core areas: guest rooms, meeting spaces, culinary offerings, and event facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Marketing & Content Development
Develop and manage the annual marketing strategy, aligning campaigns with business objectives, sales targets, and seasonal trends while ensuring synergy with Hilton’s corporate guidelines.
Produce all branded marketing collateral across channels—digital, print, experiential, and environmental—including:
Radio and broadcast commercials
Newspaper and magazine ads
On-property signage, window clings, and banner materials
Public area digital monitors and internal readerboards
Promotional flyers for food and beverage programming, events, and holiday specials
Conceptualize, design, and schedule all social media campaigns across key platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok), focusing on dynamic storytelling, follower engagement, and shareable content. This includes photography, videography, live streams, and Reels strategy.
Lead visual brand audits to ensure brand consistency across all physical and digital guest touchpoints.
Curate and maintain the hotel’s digital presence including real-time updates to:
Hilton.com and the DoubleTree Battle Creek landing page
MeetingBroker (Cvent platform)
Wedding and event listing websites (e.g., The Knot, WeddingWire)
Battle Creek CVB and Chamber of Commerce partner pages
Community Relations & Stakeholder Engagement
Serve as the primary liaison to local media outlets, newsrooms, bloggers, influencers, and tourism authorities to enhance brand visibility and earn media opportunities.
Coordinate press releases, media kits, and editorial submissions in alignment with key openings, events, or milestones.
Represent the property at networking functions such as:
Calhoun County Visitors Bureau events
Chamber of Commerce mixers
Industry mixers, expos, and charitable galas
Cultivate and oversee the Calhoun County Wedding Collective, a multi-vendor collaborative that promotes the hotel as a regional wedding destination, including vendor partnerships, quarterly meetups, and joint-marketing opportunities.
Foster meaningful community partnerships with local small businesses, tourism entities, artists, and nonprofits for mutually beneficial campaigns and brand activations.
Sales & Revenue Collaboration
Partner with the Director of Sales to support RFPs and group sales efforts through the production of:
Branded presentations and proposal templates
Event-specific sell sheets, wedding brochures, and menu boards
Sales enablement tools for internal and external use
Assist in the development of quarterly sales campaigns and packages, translating them into visual and written marketing deliverables.
Facilitate property tours for wedding planners, corporate clients, VIP guests, and media representatives, ensuring brand storytelling and guest experience excellence.
Restaurant, Event, and Guest Experience Marketing
Direct the marketing for all hotel culinary outlets, with responsibility for:
Menu design and updates (print and digital)
Seasonal F&B promotions
Branded merchandise and dining events (wine tastings, brunches, etc.)
Design table tents, check presenters, back-of-house promotional materials, and other POS collateral for restaurant and banquet operations.
Work closely with Food & Beverage leadership to promote private dining, in-room dining, and hotel-hosted culinary events.
Digital Review Management & Reputation Monitoring
Actively monitor, respond to, and escalate online reviews across platforms (Google, Yelp, TripAdvisor, Expedia, Booking.com), coordinating with Operations and Guest Services for timely and appropriate follow-up.
Report monthly on review trends and Net Promoter Score (NPS) data, using insights to inform operational improvements and brand messaging.
Collaboration & Compliance
Ensure that all visual assets, written content, and external communications comply with Hilton brand guidelines and hotel leadership directives.
All advertising, content drafts, and final social media posts must receive approval from the Director of Sales prior to distribution.
Maintain thorough documentation of all marketing expenditures, campaign results, vendor invoices, and performance metrics for monthly reporting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Hospitality, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
Proven experience in marketing, social media management, or public relations, preferably within the hospitality industry
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in content creation, design tools, and social media platforms
Ability to manage multiple projects with accuracy and attention to detail
Outgoing personality with strong community networking and relationship-building skills
