Northrop Grumman Space Systems is looking for an Engineer/Principal Engineer Guidance Navigation Controls- Weapons Systems to support the Glide Phase Interceptor Program within the Launch Vehicles business unit in Chandler, Arizona. Designs, develops, implements, verifies and tests algorithms and software and simulation tools to perform guidance, navigation and control of aircraft, spacecraft, submersibles, surface ships, missiles, launch vehicles and upper stages during powered and coast phases of launch, flight, earth orbit, interplanetary cruise and orbital insertion, as well as during staging events. Navigation functions include the statistical processing of measured data points and their substitution into algorithms simulating physical reality. Guidance functions include the formulation of specific equations to achieve a desired position, orientation or orbit in space. Control design and analyses processes consist of the development of the control laws and hardware and software requirements for aircraft, launch vehicles and/or spacecraft. The Engineer/Principal GNC Engineer will design, develop, implement, verify, and test high-quality software and simulation toolchains. The candidate will be working on a 6 degree of freedom (6DOF) simulation and integration with the weapon system. The applicant will be optimizing missile performance when integrated into a combat system. The engineer will need to have knowledge of combat system design and the integration process of deploying a tactical weapon. The desired candidate should have experience in raid analysis and the effects of debris on sensors and discrimination. The engineer will be responsible for developing novel techniques within the combat system to mitigate the impact of raids.
