Overview:

Responsibilities:
Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates and directs the Nursing Department, as well as its programs and activities in accordance with current rules, regulations, standards and guidelines.
Develops methods of coordination of Nursing Program with other services to ensure the continuity of the Senior’s/client’s total regimen of care.
Develops, implements and maintains an ongoing performance improvement plan for the Nursing Program.
Participates and manages surveys by authorized government and accrediting agencies. Maintains readiness for and cooperates fully during the survey process and takes immediate, appropriate, thorough and effective action to correct deficiencies.
Determines staffing needs of the Nursing Program necessary to meet the total nursing needs of the Seniors/clients. Assists with ensuring adequate and effective TEAMember ratios are in place for all shifts.
Ensures initial and on-going comprehensive assessments are developed, updated and maintained according to facility standards and state and federal regulations for each Senior/client.
Ensures medical and nursing care is administered in accordance with Senior/client wishes. Ensures all Seniors/clients are treated fairly with kindness, dignity, and respect. Ensures care is delivered in an environment that demonstrates honesty, integrity, compassion and trust.
Maintains a body of knowledge pertaining to current nursing theory and practice, infection control, safety, rehabilitative nursing, dementia care, hospice care, management principles, state/federal regulations pertaining to rehab, dementia, hospice, home care and/or any other relevant aspect of nursing and care for Seniors.
Maintains competence in performance of any/all duties of those who report to the DON. When appropriate, provides assistance with activities of daily living, including but not limited to bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, continence and transferring/ambulation (with or without assistance). Provides therapeutic care as described in the plan of care.
Communicates expectations, holds employees accountable, and manages consistently. Contributes to the success of Tabitha employees by coaching, developing, encouraging, nurturing, mentoring, challenging, and setting an example for direct reports. This will include working with TEAMembers on correcting performance deficiencies, policy violations, or any other area of concern.
Qualifications:
COMMUNICATION: Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the English language as well as Medical Terminology related to the job.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to gain access to the work area and then safely perform the duties of the job while utilizing standard and specialized equipment. Vision and hearing within normal limits (with or without correction). Must have unrestricted lift/push/pull ability of 50 - pounds, demonstrating strength and agility at Tabitha’s discretion.
EXPERIENCE: Two years of experience in LTC required. Management experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
EDUCATION: Successful completion of a Registered Nurse course of study. Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
CREDENTIALS: RN License in good standing as recorded on the Nebraska State Registry or other Nurse Compact state required. CPR Required. Licenses must be kept up to date at the expense of the TEAMember. Must meet Tabitha's vaccination requirements.
