Amentum is seeking a Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineer based out of our Richland, WA office. Candidates will obtain site specific Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) Analyst Qualification to support implementation of a DOE Approved Nuclear Criticality Safety Program in an operating non-reactor nuclear facility. Job Responsibilities include providing technical guidance to operating organizations; collaborating with operating organization personnel on NCS evaluations as the lead NCS Analyst; performing independent reviews of NCS evaluations; conducting periodic reviews of fissionable material operations; leading and/or participating in NCS response to programmatic issues and criticality process deviations/infractions; participating in NCS emergency response preparation (emergency procedures, plans, exercises, and drills); independently preparing, reviewing, and/or presenting technical reports to the criticality safety community; conducting NCS training for all levels of employees involved in fissionable material operations; assisting in the development and/or review of new or proposed changes to existing NCS programmatic policy and implementing documents; leading and/or participating in assessments and audits of the NCS Program; mentoring less experienced Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) Analysts and Analysts In-Training; development, revision, and review of Nuclear Criticality Safety documentation such as Criticality Safety Evaluations, Nuclear Criticality Safety Design Analysis, and Calculations and other NCS technical basis documentation; completing required NCS annual Operational Reviews; daily nuclear facility support including facility walkdowns, review of NCS requirements, implementing documents, and participation at facility Operational Safety Boards. Required Skills/Abilities include a Bachelor’s degree in nuclear, engineering, math, or science with minimum of 4-5 years of Nuclear Criticality Safety experience (Nuclear Engineering degree preferred) or 5 years of equivalent technical experience in place of a B.S.; involvement in industry committees preferred; minimum of 3 years of DOE-specific experience highly preferred; candidate must be a US citizen; candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance; demonstrated keen attention to detail.
