About the Role:
We are seeking a seasoned Controller to oversee and manage all aspects of our accounting operations. This leadership role is crucial to ensuring financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and strategic financial planning in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage accounting functions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, job costing, general ledger, and financial reporting
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Develop budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections to support business operations
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
Coordinate annual audits and tax filings with external accounting firms
Implement and maintain strong internal controls and financial procedures
Analyze financial data to support executive decision-making and strategic planning
Mentor and manage accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability and growth
Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate job cost tracking and reporting
Support leadership with financial modeling and risk analysis
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred)
Minimum 7 years of accounting/finance experience, with strong exposure to the construction or contracting industry
In-depth knowledge of job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting
Proficiency with accounting software such as Sage 300 (Timberline), QuickBooks, Procore, Viewpoint, or similar systems
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities
Excellent communication and organizational abilities
Self-motivated, deadline-driven, and a collaborative team player
