Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Accounts Receivable Manager with a strong background in transportation or logistics, ideally in freight forwarding, to lead AR operations at our Long Beach, CA office. This standalone role will be responsible for managing and collecting accounts receivable for a portfolio exceeding $200 million in annual revenue. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of tariffs, freight billing, and the CargoWise One system, and thrive in a fast-paced environment supporting a lean but high-functioning accounting team.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the full-cycle accounts receivable process, including billing, collections, dispute resolution, and cash application.
• Monitor aging reports, identify risk accounts, and proactively follow up on outstanding balances to minimize DSO.
• Act as the primary AR contact for internal stakeholders and external customers.
• Ensure compliance with company credit policies and procedures.
• Understand and interpret freight tariffs, rate structures, and contract terms to ensure accurate invoicing and collections.
• Generate and analyze AR performance metrics and prepare weekly/monthly reporting for senior leadership.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Sales, and Customer Service to resolve billing issues.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to AR workflows and internal controls.
• Provide input and support during month-end and year-end close processes.
• Work closely with auditors, preparing schedules and responding to audit inquiries.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of accounts receivable experience , with at least 3 years in the transportation or logistics industry .
• Strong understanding of tariffs , rate structures, and transportation billing practices.
• Proficient in CargoWise One or similar TMS/ERP platforms.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.).
• Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume AR portfolios.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
