GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

General duties include analyzing, reconciling and maintaining various financial records, including several complex reports and reconciliations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential functions and major responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Reconciliation of various accounts (monitoring, journalizing, reporting). Preparation of various month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing entries, various audit schedules, and assisting with financial statement preparation. Responsible for Pacific University's Current Fund Bank Reconciliation. Endowment/Trust accounting includes reconciliation of endowments/trust/life incomes and working with the money manager and departments answering questions concerning endowment funds. Reconciling corporate stocks, life income & trust accounts quarterly. Importing batches for contributions from Raiser's Edge to the general ledger; reconcile quarterly. Preparing monthly chargebacks to departments for mailroom/facilities/service center/motor pool. This position is responsible for reconciling various student accounts. Entering monthly clinic revenues. Managing and recording co-faculty billing. Recording monthly lease straight-line entries and annual reconciliations for audit. Assist with training department managers on campus to understand budget reports. Including researching issues and sending reports, when needed. Reconciling bank accounts for specific funds. Reconciling credit card fees monthly. Month end pooling and closing process. Assist in 990T preparation and the AOR and FISAP reporting. Input budget and other journal entries as needed. Other duties as assigned by the Controller or Assistant Controller.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with specialized training in accounting principles and practices. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & BEHAVIORS Strong computer skills, with experience in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and ability to learn basic database operations and be familiar with database concepts. Preference giving if experienced using Colleague Financial. Detail oriented, accurate and thorough in preparation of work. Ability to handle confidential information. Ability to analyze and interpret data and arrive at valid conclusions.

WORKING CONDITIONS

General office conditions. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 20% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.
